SAG Awards toke place some couple of hours ago and we already know the winners. There are no big surprises, there are only a few worries if you like The Social Network better than The King's Speech . Tom Hooper won the DGA Award of Best Director of 2010 for his work in The King's Speech . It seems a little bit scary to me because I really want to see The Social Network winning the Oscar of Best Picture, but it seems that The King's Speech gained a lot of love, suddenly: it scored 12 Academy Award nominations while "The Facebook Movie" got 8, it won the PGA Award of Best Theatrical Motion Picture and now it takes home the DGA! BUT being a DGA winners doesn't mean you'll win the Oscar of Best Director: Steven Spielberg ( The Color Purple ), Rob Marshall ( Chicago ) or Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) won the DGA but not the Oscar in the same year, so still existing hope for David Fincher, AND winning the DGA doesn't mean winning the Oscar of Best Picture too ( Brokeback Mountain is coming to my mind at this moment)!

2011 has some good reasons to go to the theatres and watch a couple of movies and I'm not talking about that Summer flicks for which ones we pay a ticket just "to see". In fact, 2011 seems to have a lot of "quality-movies", so here's my list of "potentitial-Oscar-quality-movies" (in alphabetical order): The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn Synopsis: " Tintin and his friends discover directions to a sunken ship commanded by Capt. I'm shocked, but I still breathing... And I'm not talking about the area of water in Australia (due to the floods), I'm talking about some big Oscar snubs this year. While I'm totally happy with the list of Best Picture nominees (it's equal to my predictions), but I can't understand why Ryan Gosling ( Blue Valentine ) was snubed in the Best Leading Actor category: Javier Bardem took his place between the nominees. Wait! I'm not saying that Bardem doesn't deserve this recognition, because he actually would deserve it IF this year the race didn't had other "SO Good" contenders. I really hoped that Gosling would get it and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Robert Duvall in the list instead of him, but I serious wasn't prepared at all to see Bardem (I knew it was possible, he was under my consideration, but I thought it won't happen) and I didn't expected to see Gosling snubed if Williams was nominated. With a RT percentage of 98% and with a critics' consensus that says "Boasting dazzling animation, a script with surprising dramatic depth, and thrilling 3-D sequences, How to Train Your Dragon soars", this movie has its place between the 3 nominees for the Oscar of Best Animated Feature pratically guaranteed. Plus, this movie was a big commercial sucess and have been getting some nods for Best Animated Feature from Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards, Critics Choice Awards and took home the Best Animated Feature Award of the Toronto Film Critics Association, which increases the chances of getting nominated for the Academy Award of Best Animated Feature even higher.
