BEST PICTURE Because the AMPAS will want to recognize the most loved movie of the year, which is a tribute to the silent cinema era at the same time. The Artist BEST DIRECTOR Oscar voters will choose between Scorsese and the director of The Artist , but since Scorsese is a living directing leggend and Hazanavicius turned a risky project in a masterpiece and a contender for a cinema classic, I bet they will go for the French director.
