So, let's start... Who is SUPER ENOUGH to play Superman?

Well, with Christopher Nolan ( Memento ; The Dark Knight ; Inception ) producing Superman: The Man of Steel , this movie seems interesting in the worst perspective. In fact, Nolan brought some pedigree to something that I would see as a "future failure" and I'm interested about who should/could be choosen as Clark Kent. I found a website that posted the synopsis of the movie: " Clark Kent is a freelance reporter in his early 20's, traveling all around the world covering various news stories. However, Kent is forced to fly back into action to attain a fleeing assassin instead of covering an ethnic conflict between the Ghuri and Turaaba clans in West Africa. Upon his return to form, Kent returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and become the hero he was born to be ." So, I thought a little bit about it and some names came to my mind, so, let's see each one of them... - Jake Gyllenhaal : he has already proved he can do kick-ass scenes in Princ

Gael Garcia "Hands of Stone" Bernal; Chris Zylka to join upcoming Spiderman reboot as "Flash"?; Superman: The Man of Steel news;

Gael Garcia Bernal ( The Motorcycle Diaries ) will star a Roberto Duran biopic named Hands of Stone , while Al Pacino ( Scent of a Woman ) seems to be rumoured for the role of Duran’s trainer, Ray Arcel. The movie about this man, who boxed professionally for 50 years, will be directed by Jonathan Jakubowiczwill . It seems to me an Oscar-kind of role for Bernal, specially when movies like Rocky , Million Dollar Baby or The Wrestler gave to some members of their cast Academy Awards nominations, specially their leads. It would be great seeing Bernal talent being recognized and Al Pacino back to the Oscar nods. Chris Zylka may join the untitled upcoming Spiderman reboot directed by Marc Webb . The actor may play the role of Eugene Thompson, well-known in the comics as "Flash". If the news are true, Zylka will join a wonderful cast composed by Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors (The Lizard), Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben

actor/actress of the week: Emma Watson

Name: Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson Born: 15th April, 1990, Paris, France Years active: 2001 - present Emma Watson is one of the most bankable (if not the most bankable) young actress working today thanks to her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, for which franchise she rose to worldwide superstardom. She was already nominated for some awards including two Critics' Choice Awards of Best Young Actress. Her body of work include some projects in which she starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Richard Harris, Gemma Jones, Maggie Smith, Emma Thompson, Michael Gambon, Julie Christie, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter and Miranda Richardson. Her filmography include movies such as all the Harry Potter movies already made, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of the Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisioner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the O

Academy Awards 2011 Best Animated Feature nominees predictions (1st round)

How To Train Your Dragon - with a RT percentage of 98% and with a critics' consensus that says " Boasting dazzling animation, a script with surprising dramatic depth, and thrilling 3-D sequences, How to Train Your Dragon soars ", this movie has its place between the 3 nominees for the Oscar of Best Animated Feature pratically guaranteed. Plus, this movie was a big commercial sucess, which increases even more its chances to score the nomination. The Illusionist (L'illusionniste) - described by some critics as an " animation masterpiece of the new decade ", The Illusionist may have its chance in the race for the Oscar of Best Animated Feature. The competition is very strong this year and Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragon have their place between the nominees guaranteed, but The Illusionist may be in advantage in relation to another animated movies because of its traditional animation and because of being extremely beautiful vissually and emotional

Academy Awards 2011 Best Adapted Screenplay nominees predictions (3rd round)

- Ben Affleck , Peter Craig and Sheldon Turner for The Town - Michael Ardnt for Toy Story 3 - William Davies, Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders for How To Train Your Dragon - Debra Granik and Anne Rosellini for Winter's Bone - Aaron Sorkin for The Social Network in consideration: Ethan Cohen and Joel Cohen ( True Grit ); Simon Beaufoy and Danny Boyle ( 127 Hours ); David Lindsay-Abair ( Rabbit Hole );

Academy Awards 2011 Best Original Screenplay nominees predictions (3rd round)

- Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg for The Kids Are All Right - Sofia Coppola for Somewhere - Mike Leigh for Another Year - Christopher Nolan for Inception - David Seidler for The King's Speech in consideration: Armando Bo, Nicolás Giocobone and Alejandro González Iñárritu ( Biutiful ); Derek Cianfrance, Joey Curtis and Cami Delavigne ( Blue Valentine ); Scott Silver, Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson ( The Fighter );

Carey Mulligan is Lhurman's Daisy; Shore will compose The Hobbit; Downey Jr. won't feel Gravity; Johansson, Fanning and Fugit will go to the "Zoo";

Carey Mulligan is officially cast as Daisy in the upcoming Baz Lhurman 's ( Moulin Rouge! ) adaptation of The Great Gratsby . But it seems that she wasn't the first choice for the role: Lhurman and DiCaprio (the leading male) wanted Scarlett Johansson for the role, but schedule conflits put her out of the role. Now, the British golden girl is set to share the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio ( Titanic ) and Tobey Maguire ( Spider-Man ). Anyway, Mulligan seems a good choice to me, in spite of the fact that I only see her as the naïve Jenny from An Education , so she has a lot to proove while playing Daisy, a enchanting but spoiled and manipulative girl. Mulligan has the talent, but will she good enough for the role? Howard Shore will compose The Hobbit movies' score. After working with Peter Jackson in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Shore and Jackson will re-team again. Recently, the composer stated that " It looks like finally it’s going to be happening. I’ll be w

Academy Awards 2011 Best Director nominees predictions (3rd round)

Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan - Aronofsky is a very respected director with great movies like Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler in his amazing body of work and, now, it seems that he finally has a great chance to be recognized by the Academy. Black Swan was a sensation in Venice Film Festival, receiving a lot of critical praise and the director received raves too, specially because of the complexity of his amazing work with an awesome result. The movie seems by far one of the best movies of the year and has a nod in the Best Picture category almost guaranteed, but everyone knows that behind a good movie is a good director. So, let's see if it is in this race that Aronofsky will get his Best Director Oscar nod, but he has to face a strong competition with a couple of a-long-time-overdue-for-a-win directors... Let's see if he will be one of the five choosen by the Academy... I would vote for him. Lisa Cholodenko for The Kids Are All Right - being the director and wri

Academy Awards 2011 Best Supporting Actress nominees predictions (3rd round)

Helena Bonham Carter for The King's Speech - Helena Boham Carter is married with Tim Burton and is oftenly seen in her husband's works and in the Harry Potter franchise's movies, so her role as Elizabeth, the Queen consort of King George VI of UK is something different from what she have been done since some years ago and may give her a second Oscar nod. In fact, playing the English royalty is almost a guaranteed of Oscar or Oscar buzz and it seems that her performance is something great according to the critics, which is a guarantee of an Oscar nomination. The King's Speech may not be focused in her character, but Mrs. Burton is an awesome actress and knows how to call all the attentions to her and I've a feeling that she will do the same with the Oscar voters. Will she win? Maybe, it's possible, definetly! Marion Cotillard for Inception - the French Academy's darling may not have a big role in the movie of the year so far (I'm talking about Incept

actor/actress of the week: Leonardo DiCaprio

Name: Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio Born: 11th November, 1974, Los Angeles, U.S. Years active: 1989 - present Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most sucessful actors of today. He can be both an critically praised and bankable actor, being a three-times Academy Award nominee, a Golden Globe winner, and a BAFTA and SAG Award nominee actor. He was the star of the highest-grossing movie ever until 2010, but started his career when he was a child in some commercials and on TV projects. He has already worked with some big names like Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Robert DeNiro, Kate Winslet, Tom Hanks, Amy Adams, Cameron Diaz, Daniel Day-Lewis, Cate Blanchett, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, Jennifer Connelly, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson, Russell Crowe, Mark Ruffallo, Ben Kingsley, Marion Cotillard and Michael Caine. His filmography include a lot of praised performances in a lot of critically acclaimed movies like What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Titanic (1997), Catch

Academy Awards 2011 Best Supporting Actor nominees predictions (3rd round)

Christian Bale for The Fighter - Bale is one of those actors who are very overdue for an Oscar nomination, specially when he has such a great body of work with amazing performances in every movie he does ( Empire of the Sun (1987), Little Women (1994), American Psycho (2000), The Machinist (2004), Batman Begins (2005), The New World (2005), The Prestige (2006), I'm Not There (2007), 3:10 to Yuma (2007) and The Dark Knight (2008)). He has the talent, he has the previous critical acclaim, he's well-known, he's overdue for an Oscar and he plays a boxer in The Fighter : he has everything to get a nod for Best Supporting Actor this year if the movie will received critical praise. Did you ever see The Fighter movie trailers? Bale seems simply amazing, his performance seems something that I never saw from him! I think the Academy should recognize such an amazing actor and don't snub him, again... Andrew Garfield for The Social Network - Garfield is becoming a w

Academy Awards 2011 Best Leading Actress nominees predictions (3rd round)

Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right - The Kids Are All Right became THE indie Summer movie and between the lots of raves that the movie earned, Annette Bening was one of the targets of the critics' praise. Seeing Annette Bening laying a member of a lesbian couple and a mum in a comedy may be something that we aren't used to see and this is the point of a possible Oscar nod and maybe win: she's doing something light, different from, for example, her character in American Beauty . And we can't forgive the Academy for never gave her a golden statue (she lost to Hillary Swank twice!), but this year, a nod is sure and a win is possible, definetly! But there are some placement problems between her and Moore due to the leading actress title and this may be a real problem... but it seems that "Bening isn't supportive, Bening is always the star!", so no problem for her. If she won't get a Best Actress nomination for The Kids Are All Right , something&
