Moretz and Dunst in "Hick"; Blige in talks for "Rock of Ages"; Tom Hanks will be in Triple Frontier; Douglas keeps on board to portray Liberace;
- Kirsten Dunst (Marie Antoinette) will star in the upcoming adaptation of the novel Hick. Dunst will join Chloë Moretz (Kick-Ass) in the film. The young actress will play a “13-year-old Nebraska girl who gets more than she bargained for when she runs away to Las Vegas.”, while Derrick Martini is set to direct the coming-of-age drama. The novel's writer (Andrea Portes) also wrote the big-screen adaptation of Hick.
- Mary J. Blige, the R&B singer, is in talks to star in the screen adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages that will be directed and choreographed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray). Blige seems in negociations to play Justice Charlier, “the owner of the Sunset Strip’s exotic dance venue the Venus Club.”
The screen adaptation of Rock of Ages has also Tom Cruise in talks to star. The Jerry Maguire's actor seems to be "drawn to the villainy of rock singer Stacee Jaxx", according to Collider. - Tom Hanks is officially on board of the upcoming Academy Award winning director Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and they are aiming start shooting in mid-March 2011. The movie will be called Triple Frontier and not Sleeping Dogs, as some previous rumours reported.
According to Collider, "Written by Hurt Locker scribe Mark Boal, the film centers on a border zone of South America known as “la triple frontera”, and is a haven for drug cartels. There’s a strong Middle Eastern community who have long been linked to Islamic extremists and their money laundering activities."
It seems so cool! - Michael Douglas stills on board for Liberace biopic in spite of his throat cancer. He will star alongside Matt Damon, who will play his lover, and the movie is set to start shooting next summer (May or June).
I'm glad Michael Douglas feels good enough to keep acting: it's a way to fight the cancer. Go, Mr. Douglas, go!...
