Madonna's. W.E. in Oscar race; Trailer for "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy"; Trailer for "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol";

According to Collider, " Madonna’s directorial debut Filth and Wisdom was widely panned but The Weinstein Company clearly has some faith in her follow-up W.E. (or at least in their ability to market it). The studio has sent out a press release announcing that they’ll release the movie on December 9th in the heart of awards season. It makes sense that TWC would try pushing the film into the awards race since the story of W.E. is what was happening off-screen in The King’s Speech. Whereas King’s Speech made King Edward VIII look like a selfish, short-sighted romantic, W.E. will recount his love story with American Wallis Simpson by viewing their relationship through the modern life of Wally Winthrop ". Well... to be completely honest, I don't have much faith in W.E. , but I can't forget that I didn't have hopes in Slumdog Millionaire or The King's Speech . It doesn't seem the kind of Best Picture Oscar nominee, that's sure, but according to some earl

Ben Affleck to direct and star in "Argo"; Scarlett Johansson to star in "Once" director's next movie; "War Horse" first movie trailer (with Spanish subtitles);

According to Collider , " Ben Affleck first started considering Argo as his next project in February. In the months since, Affleck cast Alan Arkin and John Goodman in two supporting roles. Until tonight, Affleck had yet to announce the man to play Tony Mendez, “the CIA exfiltration expert who created a fake Hollywood production to get six Americans who were hiding out at the Canadian ambassador’s out of Iran.” According to Variety, Affleck will assume the lead role himself ". I don't know what do you think about this project, but it seems one of the most interesting upcoming movies, specially when the scrip by Chris Terrio was part of the 2010 Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays and Ben Affleck proved that he can be a great director (Gone Baby Gone and The Town). Let's wait and see how it will develop, but, right now, I'm excited about this one... Some reports say that  Scarlett Johansson ( Lost In Translation ) signed to star in the upcom

TOP 15 Actors and Actresses Who Should Have an Oscar Nod, But They Don't (Overdue for an Oscar Nomination)

It's common to say that X actor is overdue for an Oscar win, but sometimes we forget that there are a lot of talented actors that didn't get the AMPAS recognition in spite of having a great body of work and a couple of performances for which deserve an Academy Award nod. They are recognized as "good actors and actresses", but it seems that the Academy didn't decide to honour their talent and their work. Here's my list ( in alphabetical order ): Kevin Bacon Most Oscar-deserving performances: 1995 - Murder in the First 2004 - The Woodsman Thora Birch Most Oscar-deserving performances: 1999 - American Beauty 2001 - Ghost World Emily Blunt Most Oscar-deserving performances: 2006 - The Devil Wears Prada 2009 - The Young Victoria Jim Carrey Most Oscar-deserving performances: 1998 - The Truman Show 1999 - Man on the Moon 2004 - The Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind John Cusack Most Oscar-deserving performances: 1989 - Say Anything 1999 - Being J

Oscar 2012 contenders so far: "X-Men: First Class" and "Super 8"

Genre: Drama; Action/Adventure; Science Fiction/Fantasy Director: Matthew Vaughn Starring: James McAvoy; Michael Fassbender; January Jones; Kevin Bacon; Nicholas Hoult; Jennifer Lawrence; Release date: 3rd June, 2011 " Lenser John Mathieson reinforces the film's retro orientation with canted camera angles and tracking shots that show off the richness of Chris Seagers' production design, whether it's a louche Las Vegas nightclub or a submarine commandeered by Bacon's renascent villain, now calling himself Sebastian Shaw (...) Despite a somewhat hefty 130-minute running time, "First Class" feels swift, sleek and remarkably coherent; an even longer, more fully fleshed-out version would not have been unwelcome. Visual effects designed by John Dykstra are smoothly and imaginatively integrated, and Henry Jackman's score provides fantastic forward momentum. " by Justin Chang in Variety " We interrupt this summer of blah sequels and pointless rema

Captain America's new movie trailer; Emma Stones says NO to "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies"; O. Russell searches a female lead for "The Silver Linings Playbook";

To be completely honest, the trailer makes the movie looking pretty decent and I used to think that this one would suck, but I think I started looking to this one as a possible critical "success". But... most trailers make movies look better than they really are! Here's Captain America: The First Avenger new movie trailer: Recently, it was reported that the role of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies  was offered to Emma Stone ( Easy A ), but it seems that she passed on the project. According to Deadline, " Emma Stone passed on the heroine role in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Lionsgate's adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel that mixes the 1813 Jane Austen classic with a legion of bloodthirsty zombies. While talent gets offered and passes on movies every day, Internet reports now trumpet offers, even if the journalists have no idea whether the actor is at all interested in doing the movie. In this case, an offer was made but it ne

Academy Awards 2012 Best Director nominees predictions (2nd round)

Clint Eastwood for J. Edgar Last time Eastwood was nominated for the Oscar of Best Director, it was in 2007 when Letters from Iwo Jima got four nominations at the Oscars and it may happen again due to J. Edgar . The Academy loves biopics, gay love stories and Clint Eastwood... this man only needs raves for his work in his latest project in order to get a Best Director nod. Changeling , Gran Torino and Invictus are good movies and the AMPAS must apologize Eastwood for all the snubs during a recent past by nominating him this year and J. Edgar seems to be a perfect excuse to me! He was an acting legend who became one of the best directors alive, there are a lot of people who would die to work with him (I'm one of those people) and there are a lot of people who admire his work. He only won't get it if J. Edgar is a bad movie, which seems an impossible thing at the moment...  David Fincher for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo After loosing the Oscar of Best Director

"The Ides of March" in Venice; Penn Badgley as Jeff Buckley?; "The Hobbit" and next Woody Allen movie cast announcements; "A Dangerous Method" trailer;

The drama, that takes place during the Ohio primary for the Democratic nomination, will be distributed by Sony Pictures next fall. Penn Badgley , an actor who may know if you already watched Easy A , will play the legendary Jeff Buckley in a movie called Greetings from Tim Buckley . Academy Awards 2012 Best Supporting Actress nominees predictions (2nd round)

Judi Dench for J. Edgar Dame Judi Dench is one of the best actresses working today, so having her among the cast of a Clint Eastwood movie wasn't a surprise and it created a lot of Oscar buzz around her performance as J. Edgar Hoover's mother (last year, there were two mums in competition in this category: Jacki Weaver for Animal Kingdom and Melissa Leo for The Fighter ). She's always magnificent and she already has Oscar love, so it seems easy to her to get a nod, but this category was a little bit unpredictable last year and this year the competition seems as strong as the previous one, so Dame Dench needs to be remarkable, which may not be easy once her part may be too short. Plus, Judi may compete against herself due to her promising role in My Week With Marilyn , in spite of J. Edgar being a more Oscar-looking movie. Judi Dench needs a bit more than her respectful name and Eastwood's signature in the movie in order to get a Best Supporting Actress nomination
