Who will be Baz Lhurman's Daisy?

This year, we have already assisted to one of the major "find-the-right-actress" hunting for the role of Lisbeth Salander in the upcoming David Fincher 's remake of the Millenium trilogy, with Rooney Mara (a relatively unknown actress) to be choosen between an All-star list of young actresses. Now, it seems that Baz Lhurman ( Moulin Rouge! ) is looking for an actress to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in his upcoming adaptation of the classic The Great Grabsy . Unfortunatly for him, Nicole Kidman is already too old for the part, so we won't see her working with him again, but there's a list of potencial choices and there's an Australian actress between the names: Abbie Cornish . So here's the list, WITHOUT Cornish: - Rebecca Hall ; - Amanda Seyfried ; - Michelle Williams ; - Keira Knightley ; - Scarlett Johansson ; - Natalie Portman ; - Blake Lively ; In my opinion, Abbie Cornish would be the best choice and she seems to me to be the most likely actr

actor/actress of the week: Ryan Gosling

Name: Ryan Thomas Gosling Born: 12th November, 1980, London, Canada Years active: 1996 - present Ryan Gosling is one of today's actors that I most respect and he's named one of the most serious and talented actors of his generation. He has already starred alongside names like Denzel Washington, David Morse, Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Rachel McAdams, Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Mortimer, Paul Schneider, Patricia Clarkson, Frank Langella, Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams. Gosling received his Academy Award nomination in the Best Actor category for his great performance as Nelson in the indie drama Half Nelson, for which one he received a SAG nomination. His performance in Lars and the Real Girl gave him a Golden Globe nod in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical category and another SAG Award nomination. His filmography include a lot of critically praised performances in some acclaimed movies such as The Believer (2001), The Slaugh

Will Tom Cruise rock in "Rock of Ages"?; "Farragut North" is retitled and will have Gosling in the lead; Rapace Vs Portman for Alien prequel;

It seems that New Line has offered to Tom Cruise a supporting role in the big screen version of the Broadway hit musical Rock of Ages . The story takes place 1987 on the Sunset Strip and it's about a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA’s most famous rock club and they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80s. Taylor Swift has been rumoured to play the leading female role in this adaptation of the Broadway musical, playing the role of Sherrie the "small town girl". It would be awesome to have a GOOD rock musical , so let's cross our fingers and hope it will be something great with a great cast (I'm not talking of Taylor Swift, she's pretty but it may be too risky having her in such a production), a great direction and lots of energy. George Clooney 's directing project Farragut North got a new titled and now will be named The Ides of March . Clooney will also write and star the movie alongside the already confirmed "indie star&quo

Which Twilight stars will keep shining after the end of the saga?

The young cast of Twilight is the "hit-cast" of the moment, specially between the teen audiences, but will all the actors of the movie saga keep shinning as bright as today? Of couse not, the majority of them will be forgotten and people will say something like "I know this face from another movie, but I don't know which one". But there are some members of the cast that are already working for keeping their star shinning and some of them will continue to appear in the silver screen. This is a TOP 5 of the Twilight actors/actresses that will easily keep working in Hollywood and that won't be easily forgotten. 1) Anna Kendrick - I would say that Miss Kendrick is TOO GOOD for Twilight saga . In fact, Kendrick was a Tony nominee actress before being part of the first installement of the movies (and the youngest actress ever to receive a Tony nod) and, became the only Oscar nominee member of the cast due to her performance in Up In the Air (2009). The Twiligh

Batman 3 will be named "The Dark Knight Rises"; The Hobbit will be filmed in New Zealand; Avatar 2 and 3 set for a 2014 and 2015 release;

Recently, Collider reported that " the next Batman movie will be titled The Dark Knight Rises. (...) Nolan also tells Hero Complex that The Riddler will not be the villain in the third film. When Nolan eliminated Mr. Freeze from the running, it wasn’t a big surprise, but The Riddler is a character who seemed to fit fairly well into Nolan’s reality-based Gotham. There have been reports that Killer Croc may be the villain, but that rumor came from Mark “in-no-way-trustworthy” Millar. But speaking of rumors, it now looks like we can put down the one about Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing The Riddler. As we previously reported, Tom Hardy has joined the cast, but it’s in an unspecified role. Given Hardy’s versatility, it’s tough to peg him as any single character from the comics. Finally, Nolan confirms what we already suspected: the film won’t be in 3D. Cinematographer Wally Pfister shares Nolan’s lack of enthusiasm for the technology. However, they’re both fans of IMAX and will “…instead

Christopher Nolan is looking for an actress for the 3rd movie of his Batman franchise

According to Collider, " In obvious Batman 3 news, director Christopher Nolan is apparently meeting with actresses this week in order to find his female lead for the upcoming Batman film. As we reported just a couple of weeks ago, Nolan has already set his Inception star Tom Hardy to join the next Bat-flick, and now casting for the film seems to be moving right along. Moviehole reports that several young actresses (late 20’s to early 30’s) will be visiting Warner Bros. this week to meet with Nolan and producers. Security is so tight on the film that many of the leading ladies don’t know what role they’ll be reading for. (...) What we do know at this point is that Nolan is definitely back as director working from a script written by himself and his brother, Jonathan Nolan, and the film is set for a July 20, 2012 release date. Michael Caine previously said that filming would “probably start in May” of next year. Nolan has also stated that they had found a nice way to round out the t

The Hobbit

Well, fortunatly, The Hobbit will happen and the first part of the movie is currently slated to hit theaters December 2012 and the second one in December 2013. Let's put an eye on the major facts about this upcoming production: - Peter Jackson will direct this one (after directing the Lord of the Rings trilogy movies, I think that he's the right man for this); - Martin Freeman ( The Office TV series and Love Actually ) will play Bilbo Baggins. - Richard Armitage ( Captain America: The First Avenger ) will play Thorin Oakenshield, leader of the Company of Dwarves; Aidan Turner and Rob Kazinsky will play dwarves Kili and Fili; Graham McTavish will play Dwalin; John Callen will play Oin; Stephen Hunter will play Bombur; Mark Hadlow is set to play Dori and Peter Hambleton will be Gloin; - Ian McKellen is expected to return as Gandalf and Andy Serkis will likely lend his voice and movements to Gollum once again; Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving are rumoured to replay

actor/actress of the week: Scarlett Johansson

Name: Scarlett Johansson Born: 22nd November, 1984, New York City, U.S. Years active: 1994 - present Scarlett Johansson is my favorite actress and Woody Allen's most recent muse. She's a four times Golden Globe nominee, a BAFTA and a Tony Award winning actress, starting her career in some indie productions, estabilishing herself as a serious actress in the beginning of the 21th century. She has already worked with a couple of great directors like the Cohen brothers, Sofia Coppola, Woody Allen and Christopher Nolan and has already starred alongside names like Billy Bob Thorton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke or Liev Schreiber and Jessica Hecht (the last two on Broadway). Her filmography include a lot of praised performances in some critically acclaimed movies such as The Horse Whisperer (1998), Ghost World (2001), Lost In Translation (2003), Girl With Pearl Earring (2003), Match Point (2005)

A Dangerous Method: first pictures; Disney buys "The Avengers" and "Iron Man 3"; Gotham Independent Film Awards;

New images from David Cronenberg ’s A Dangerous Method have gone online. The film is based on Christopher Hampton ’s play The Talking Cure about the relationship between Carl Jung (played by Michael Fassbender ), Sigmund Freud ( Viggo Mortensen ) and Sabina Spielrein ( Keira Knightley ). The movie seems interesting and promising, because of the amazing cast and the amazing director that are involved in this project and, I don't know why, I smell Oscar quality roles for the three leads, specially for Fassbender and Mortensen. I'm waiting with high expectations! According to Collider, " In August of last year, Walt Disney Studios bought Marvel for $4 billion. That deal did not include character and properties that were already being produced under other studios. Today, Disney, Marvel Studios, and Paramount Pictures have reached a deal for Disney to handle the worldwide marketing and distribution for The Avengers and Iron Man 3. Paramount will remain the worldwide distribu

"The Great Grabsy": Di Caprio, Maguire and Hall?; Angelina Jolie is James Cameron's "Cleopatra"; "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies" keeps alive;

Tobey Maguire and Leonardo Di Caprio were rumoured to star in Baz Lhurman 's remake of The Great Grabsy alongside Amanda Seyfried . Now, it seems that Miss Seyfried is out of the project while the name to the female lead is Rebecca Hall right now (fortunatly). It is getting even more interesting now we have a Great Actress to lead the movie (she was completly fantastic in The Prestige ). I'll keep my eye on this project! Angelina Jolie is extremly beautiful and dangerously sexy and it seems that so will be the next Cleopatra of the big screen. In fact, Angelina Jolie (who previously played a Greek queen in the a cinematic failure named Alexander ) is confirmed (I think) to portray the legendary queen of Egypt in the upcoming project directed by James Cameron ( Titanic ; Avatar ) named Cleopatra . I know that James Cameron is almost always associated to futuristic movies or something BIG like Titanic, but it will surely be something interesting from his part. Pride & P

2010's Cinema Revelations

2010 is a little less than 3 monts to come to an end, but the cinema industry has already seen a lot of talent and work that came from some "fresh faces" and other from a little more known people who proved this year why they still working. I made my list of the biggest revelations so far in both directing and acting. This is not a top 10, it's a list that has 10 names that could be 11 or more if I have found someone else who has impressed the audiences and the critics in a good way. I hope you agree with me! (I put the names in alphabetical order) Derek Cianfrance Born: ?-?-1975 (?) Why he's a revelation: he directed the highly acclaimed Blue Valentine (official selection of Cannes Film Festival, of Sundance Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival) starring the indie movie stars Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams . In spite of having previous works, Cianfrances seems to have the recognition he seems to deserve as a good indie director thanks to Blue Valentine .

Natalie Portman passes on "Gravity"; "The Way Back"'s and "Blue Valentine"'s movie trailers; Michelle Williams/Marilyn Monroe; Jolie-Pitt on screen?;

Well, it seems that the audiences won't see Natalie Portman as the leading lady of Alfonso Cuarón 's Gravity . According to Collider, " Just when it seemed like Cuarón had nailed a daring and capable actress to help get his $80 million 3D sci-fi film into orbit, Deadline reports that Natalie Portman has backed off. As we revealed last month, Portman was offered the role without having to screen test for it because of her critically praised performance in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. Now Warner Bros. will have to turn towards another bankable actress in an effort to give Gravity some box office pull. Hit the jump for a string of possibilities and the leading lady they are eyeing (...) Sandra Bullock was reportedly waiting “in the wings” if Portman didn’t accept the role (...) Right after reporting that WB and Cuarón are looking at Sandra Bullock to replace Natalie Portman, Variety is reporting that the offer is already on the table ". At the same time, Natalie Portm
