Mission Impossible IV - now, it's Renner's time!

" Jeremy Renner to Co-Star in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE IV Jeremy Renner has signed on to star alongside Tom Cruise in Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible IV. Deadline reports that Paramount was looking for an actor who could potentially carry on the franchise should Cruise leave the series down the line, although he is expected to return for a fifth picture should it happen. As we reported a couple days ago, Keven Zegers, Christopher Egan, and Anthony Mackie were in talks to join the film, but Deadline explains they were all planning to read for the role that now belongs to Renner. Ving Rhames is set to return and Simon Pegg is in talks to reprise his role as Benji Dunn. Paramount has also met with Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Hit the jump for more on Renner’s increasingly-busy schedule. Mission: Impossible IV is due out on December 16, 2011 ." 127 Hours final countdown

Well, it seems great! It's the only thing I can say about Danny Boyle's latest project starring James Franco in a movie based on a real story of a mountain climber. Just check out the movie trailer: It's seems a mix of the energetic and brilliant Slumdog Millionaire with the little-epic adventure of Christopher McCandless in Into the Wild! And both movies were some of the greatest I've ever seen! People will talk about this one as a serious Oscar contender, specially in the major categories (Best Picture, Best Director and Best Leading Actor) and (maybe) in the editing work that seemed wonderful to me while I watched the trailer. 127 Hours isn't a myth anymore, it's real, and seems a beautiful reality! I can't wait for this one !

Tim Burton + Addams Family = Tim Burton's classic?

Tim Burton is attached to direct a 3D stop-motion adaptation of The Addams Family . It was a rumoured movie and since it beggining, some months ago, Burton was the director that was named to bring life to the project. The screenwriting team of Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (who wrote Ed Wood ) is attached to write the screenplay. There aren't rumours about the actors attached for the project, but I've the strange feeling that we may see Johnny Depp and Helena Boham Carter working with him again... I really want to see the result of this one!

Spider-Man reboot: who will be Spidey's love interest and who'll be the villain?

Mary Jane Won’t Be Love-Interest in SPIDER-MAN Reboot; Candidates Include Emma Roberts, Teresa Palmer, More by Matt Goldberg Posted:August 19th, 2010 at 3:12 pm With Andrew Garfield locked to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, the search continues to find the web-slinger’s love-interest. However, unlike Raimi’s trilogy, the love interest won’t be Mary Jane. While presumably that means the love interest is Gwen Stacy, Heat Vision reports that script pages given to actresses reading for the role don’t reveal the character’s name. Among those actresses are (from left-to-right in the image above) Imogen Poots (Solitary Man), Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy), Lily Collins (The Blind Side), Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), and Emma Roberts (Valentine’s Day). HV makes clear “These are not screentests, which usually involve some sort of dealmaking, but rather readings and meetings,” and that another round of searching could take place if these actresses don’

Bob Marley biopic

" Emmy-Nominated Director Jenny Ash Developing Bob Marley Biopic by Matt Goldberg Posted:August 18th, 2010 at 9:46 am Jenny Ash, the UK director who has received an Emmy nomination for her work on the documentary miniseries America – The Story of Us, is developing a biopic on the life of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley. Deadline reports that the “feature will concentrate on the year Marley spent living in London in 1977. This was a crucial year for Marley. He’d fled Jamaica after an attempt was made on his life; the year ended with him sustaining a soccer injury which eventually triggered full-blown cancer.” Ash, whose two-hour segment of the 12-part America miniseries covered slavery and the Civil War, also sees the movie as a love triangle between Marley, his wife Rita and Jamaican beauty queen Cindy Breakspeare, whom Ash has spent time with in Jamaica. I presume the denouement of that story won’t be about college students who love Marley because he shared their love of getti

Black Swan

The trailer of the last work of Darren Aronofsky came out, finally. It will be played in the opening night of the Venice Film Festival and is part of the official selection of Toronto Film Festival. According to the official movie's synopsis " BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina (Portman), a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the

"Love and Other Drugs" doesn't seem to deserve the Oscar love

Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway star in the latest romcom about an unlikely pair of people who initially hate one another and then learn they love one another only to find they can't be together before they decide to spend the rest of their lives together. It's seems a too much common story! And the trailer seems more a enjoyable romantic-comedy than a serious comedy... My mum always told to not judge the thing based on their looks, but Love and Other Drugs doesn't seem as promising as it was some months before... Check out the trailer: It doesn't seems bad, but not so brilliant it may be!... Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway's performances seem very good and may be the only chances of the movie for the Oscars, but it may only be a truly shinning star in Golden Globes, because it seems a good romantic-comedy and this is something rare nowadays. Let's wait and see...

Let Me In Will Play at Toronto Film Festival

It seems that the horror flick Let Me In , starring Kodi Smith-McPhee ( The Road ), Chloë Moretz ( Kick-Ass ) and Richard Jenkins ( The Visitor ) will play at Toronto Film Festival and will also open this year's Fantastic Fest . According to the press release from Fantastic Fest, " Let Me In is a terrifying tale about an alienated 12-year old (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins)." Check out the trailer: This doesn't sound bad at all! Actually, it sounds good...

The Avengers will be in 3D

It seems that the BIGGEST UPCOMING SUPERHERO MOVIE will be in 3D and that's simply interesting... Don't forget that there's an All-Star cast for the movie, including names such as Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, and other big names, and that will have Joss Whedom as writer and director! Well, studios must be grateful to Avatar : the James Cameron movie didn't changed the way that movies are made, but also create a new way to studios gross even more money. Economy Nobel Prize to James Cameron? Just kidding! I hope The Avengers will be awesome!

The Dragon Girl Isn't Mulligan, Isn't Page, Isn't Portman, Isn't Johansson, It's Mara, Rooney Mara!

" Rooney Mara Cast as Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO by Matt Goldberg Posted:August 16th, 2010 at 11:02 am The competition to play the juicy role of Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has come to a close. We have received a press release from Sony announcing that Rooney Mara (A Nightmare on Elm Street remake) will play the part of the brilliant/slightly-psychotic hacker with an eidetic memory. Other finalists for the role included Sophie Lowe, Sarah Snook and French actress Lea Seydoux. Mara also had a slight “in” as she co-stars in Fincher’s upcoming film The Social Network. She will star opposite Daniel Craig who plays disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Stellan Skarsgard and Robin Wright are also attached to star. The story of Dragon Tattoo centers on Blomkvist and Salander trying to uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of a young woman forty years ago. It is the first part of Stieg Larsson’s “Mill

Who will save Denzel Washington from the bad guys?

" Ryan Reynolds, Shia LaBeouf, Chris Pine, Zac Efron, Channing Tatum, Jake Gyllenhaal, and More Vie to Room with Denzel Washington in SAFE HOUSE by Brendan Bettinger Posted:August 12th, 2010 at 4:06 pm We reported earlier today that Shia LaBeouf and Chris Pine are “rumored choices” for the lead role in John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine — it looks like LaBeouf and Pine are likewise among a group of young actors in contention for a starring role in Safe House opposite Denzel Washington. Here’s the full list: •Ryan Reynolds •Tom Hardy •Zac Efron •James McAvoy •Sam Worthington •Shia LaBeouf •Taylor Kitsch •Garrett Hedlund •Channing Tatum •Jake Gyllenhaal •Chris Pine •Chris Hemsworth Hit the jump for more details on the project, including the nature of the role the victor will play. The lengthy list is culled from reports by Deadline and Heat Vision; the latter indicates that Reynolds is “emerging as the frontrunner.” Washington finalized his deal weeks ago, and Universal is expected to exte

Will Scarlett Johansson go to "Old St. Louis" in spite of "Gravity" and will Stellan Skarsgard be a good viallain in "The Girl With Dragon Tattoo"?

Today I was surfing in internet when I found some interesting movie news. I know they aren't fresh at all, but I must give my opinion about them. " I've been to one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing I ever heard come over a set of earphones. You sure you got today's Casting Tidbits? First up, Vulture reports that the lovely Scarlett Johansson is interested in heading to Old St. Louis with director David O. Russell and leading actor / producer Vince Vaughn. It's the story of the of a traveling salesman (Vaughn) who has been an absentee father (Vaughn), and how his life changes when his daughter becomes part of his new life. Johansson will take the role of Vaughn's secretary who accompanies him and his daughter on a cross-country sales trip. Next, Variety reports Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting, Angels & Demons) will join the cast of the US adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the first book of The Millennium

Has Burlesque "movie-appeal" ?

" First Trailer for BURLESQUE Starring Christina Aguilera, Cher, Kristin Bell, and Cam Gigandet Due to the limited film experience of Christina Aguilera and her booming voice, Burlesque faces the brand of skepticism that comes with anchoring your movie with a musician. Writer/director Steve Antin did what he could to surround Aguilera with a seasoned cast, including Cher, who made the leap from song to screen herself with an Oscar win for 1987’s Moonstruck. Kristen Bell, Cam Gigandet, Eric Dane, and Stanley Tucci round out the cast — check out the first trailer for Burlesque after the jump. Burlesque hits theaters on November 24th." Seems very basic, predictable, something that's not smart! The trailers may make us

"On the Road" is finding the right road (finally!)

" Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen Join Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, and Garrett Hedlund ON THE ROAD by Brendan Bettinger Posted:August 4th, 2010 at 7:38 pm The cast of Walter Salles’ adaptation of the classic Jack Kerouac novel "On the Road" is rounding out nicely, as Viggo Mortensen and Amy Adams have signed on to join stars Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley, and Garrett Hedlund. Mortensen will assume the role of Old Bull Lee (a William S. Burroughs surrogate), while Adams will play his junkie wife, Jane. According to Deadline, Adams and Mortensen will shoot their scenes later this month. Jose Rivera has scripted the adaptation, which revolves around a series of cross country trips taken by writer Sal Paradise (Riley)." Will The Girl With Dragon Tatto get an Oscar nod?

There's no doubt about how wonderful is Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander in the Millenium Trilogy movies, but will she captivate the Oscar voters? The late news about an English language adaptation of the Swedish bestseller book may open some eyes: people will be curious about the Swedish movies and will see them. The final result is a great movie with a spetacular performance from Noomi Rapace. She melt into Lisbeth Salander with such a intensity that she doesn't seem being acting, she seems a true question point in a very natural way, and the character isn't an easy one: it's a very complex one and it's a kind of litterally heroine for a lot of the Millenium Trilogy readers. She was nominated for the European Film Award of Best Actress and was one of the favorites alongside Kate Winslet, but lost to Kate's Oscar winner performance in The Reader, but there's a fact that you can't forget: the Academy love foreign actresses (Marion Cotillard for La Vi

James Cameron & Guillermo Del Toro together

" JAMES CAMERON HELPING GUILLERMO DEL TORO REACH THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS Since Guillermo del Toro left the Hobbit prequels, it seems that nearly every week has had news about the director's future. Last week, the big news was that he was writing and producing a new Haunted Mansion movie for Disney. That, however, is not del Toro's next film as director, which is probably what fans are most excited to discover. This week, James Cameron came aboard to produce (for Universal Pictures) one of del Toro's long-planned dream projects: H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness. The 1931 novella is widely considered to be the core story of Lovecraft's "Cthulhu Mythos," as it depicts an expedition to Antarctica that discovers a bizarre, ancient city created by an ancient race of creatures that worshipped terrifying gods, the mere knowledge of which can turn a human being insane. Lovecraft's stories have had a huge influence on pop culture (especially in
