Will Scarlett Johansson go to "Old St. Louis" in spite of "Gravity" and will Stellan Skarsgard be a good viallain in "The Girl With Dragon Tattoo"?

Today I was surfing in internet when I found some interesting movie news. I know they aren't fresh at all, but I must give my opinion about them.

"I've been to one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing I ever heard come over a set of earphones. You sure you got today's Casting Tidbits? First up, Vulture reports that the lovely Scarlett Johansson is interested in heading to Old St. Louis with director David O. Russell and leading actor / producer Vince Vaughn. It's the story of the of a traveling salesman (Vaughn) who has been an absentee father (Vaughn), and how his life changes when his daughter becomes part of his new life. Johansson will take the role of Vaughn's secretary who accompanies him and his daughter on a cross-country sales trip.

Next, Variety reports Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting, Angels & Demons) will join the cast of the US adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the first book of The Millennium Trilogy which was already adapted in Sweden. Skarsgard will play Martin Vanger, a principal suspects in the 40-year-old disappearance of a teenage girl. The actor said very simply, "I have met [David] Fincher, I want to work with him, he wants to work me. I have had a concrete offer and now we are in negotiations." It doesn't get more clear than that. Now if only we could get final word on who is playing the protagonist Lisbeth.

Well... Let's start with Scarlett wish to go indie again. It seems that she became an actress who chooses wisely her works since some years ago. She may not do a lot of movies in a year, bit the quality may be higher. David O. Russell has the fame of not being the kind of director whom everybody can work easily (it seems he was in a war with George Clooney if I'm not wrong), but everything he does he does it very well and the role of a secretary/lover of a divorced traveling salesman with a teenage girl seems juicy and maybe her best chance to get an Oscar nod since her role in Match Point. But there's the Gravity problem: the acclaimed director Alfonso Cuaron space epic seems a spectacular project and an unique experience for an actor and there's a schedule clash between Gravity and David O. Russell's Old St. Louis. What would you choose? A role in an ambitions space epic movie that seems to become a blockbuster or a great role in an indie movie that may give you the Oscar nod that will give you glory? The perfect would be she being part of both, but it seems difficult...

Now, let's look at Stellan Skarsgard role in the U.S. adaptation of the Swedish The Girl With Dragon Tattoo. I don't know what David Fincher has in mind, but Skarsgard seems a little bit psycho for the role of Martin Vanger. I know the character was a psycho guy, but I think he doesn't have that look in the book. But Skarsgard has a great body of work and actors can almost morph themselves in order to look how the character should look. My first thought about this casting choice was that it will be stupid and that Skarsgard is wrong for the part, but now it seems a good choice, which is a proof that we must trust David Fincher almos everytime. Skarsgard is a nice actor and I'm sure that Fincher knows what to do make him shine.

Now, I think there are two questions in the cinema world:
1 -
Will Scarlett Johansson do Alfonso Cuaron's promising and ambitious space epic or the David O. Russell indie comedy/drama?
2 - Who will be the next lucky actor who will join Fincher's adaptation of The Girl with Dragon Tattoo?

TOP 35 Actors and Actresses Under 35 Working Today - 2017

The almost annual TOP 35 Actors and Actresses Under 35 Working Today is out, with me considering the performers' performances of 2016 also. We have a few changes since last year's list, with Greta Gerwig toping the list thanks to her last 3 great performances in Mistress America , Maggie's Plan and the Oscar buzzy acting turn in 20th Century Women . Scarlett Johansson comes second with her latest distinguished performance being in 2014 ( Under the Skin ), but she managed to be at the spotligh this year thanks to her fine turns in critically acclaimed movies: Hail, Caesar! , Captain America: Civil War , The Jungle Book (voice) and Sing (voice). Emily Blunt adds another great performance to her resume in The Girl on the Train and she comes third, while Elle Fanning 's turning into one of the finest actresses and she's getting to play more adult and complex parts like The Neon Demon  and 20th Century Women 's (her two best performances since Super 8 ). TOP 10 Most Promising Movie Actors (under 30)

Today I discussed about how awful some "teen icons" are and then we talked about some exceptions. So, I decided to make a little list, a TOP 10, with the male actors that I think that will become music in an ocean of noise somewhere in the future (I did one list before, but it was a little bit pathetic and I didn't justify my choices). Let's start... 1 - Ryan Gosling He may not have a huge list of movies in his body of work, but the few times he makes something, all the time he almost carries the movie. In fact, Gosling is a proof that talent does exist and that you don't need excentrical characters to receive raves. He rose to fame after the big screen adaptation of The Notebook (2004) and then received lots of critical praise for his performances in movies like Half Nelson (that gave him an Oscar, a SAG Award and other major awards nominations), Lars and the Real Girl (that gave him a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and other major awards nominations) and Fractur

TOP 35 Actors and Actresses with or under 35 years old: 2018

I think it was my TOP 35 under 35 list I've ever done since I remember: so many great performers emerged last year with distinguished performances that elevated their previous works (I'm talking about Elizabeth Olsen , Lucas Hedges , Robert Pattinson , Gaspard Ulliel , Tessa Thompson or Jamie Bell , for example). I'm kinda sad I felt "forced" at letting Jonah Hill ( Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street ) and Emma Watson ( The Perks of Being a Wallflower , The Bling Ring and 2017's Beauty and the Beast ) out of the list. Congratulations to Kirsten Dunst , who turned 35 last year so she can not be included in this year's list - such an amazing child actress turned movie star, who delivered memorable performances in Interview with the Vampire (1994), The Virgin Suicides (1999), The Cat's Meow (2002) or Melancholia (2011). This year, Saoirse Ronan tops the list thanks to two great performances: On Chesil Beach and an iconic acting turn in Lad
