The Best of Their Generation: BORN IN THE 90's

Last month, I named the TOP 5 actors and actresses born in the 2000's - only 5, because most young actors younger than 22 had little opportunities to show-up.  Today, I'm naming the TOP 10 actors and actresses born in the 90's! I must admit I had a lot of fun selecting these "crop" of young talent - so young, yet so talented (and a big couple of them have achieved a lot already). For my consideration: the awards recognition, distinguished performances and successful movies, and box-office numbers. I still include distinguished TV works and performnaces on Broadway.  From Timothée Chalamet to Zendaya, have a look (listed alphabetically):

Academy Awards 2022 nominations - list

The Academy Awards 2022 nominees were announced this morning! And there are a lot of surprises... from atrocious snubs (Villeneuve misses Best Director, Negga for Passing , Faist for West Side Story and no tick, tick... BOOM! for Best Picture), to inspired choices (Cruz in Best Actress, The Worst Person in the World lands a Best Original Screenplay nod or Drive My Car in Best Picture, Director and Best Adapted Screenplay), to some relief-snubs (Jared Leto misses Best Supporting Actor, no Sing 2 in Best Animated Feature or no House of Gucci , Being the Ricardos or Spider-Man: No Way Home in Best Picture). The Power of the Dogs reigns supreme with 12 nominations, only followed by Dune with 10, which boosts Campion's movie's frontrunner title!  Have a look at this year's nominees (source: The Hollywood Reporter) BEST PICTURE Belfast (Laura Berwick, Kenneth Branagh, Becca Kovacik and Tamar Thomas, Producers) CODA (Philippe Rousselet, Fabrice Gianfermi and Patrick Wachsb

Academy Awards 2022 nominees predictions: FINAL PREDICTIONS IN ALL CATEGORIES (no shorts)

BEST PICTURE The Power of the Dog and Belfast feel pretty much secure. West Side Story and Dune are the big below-the-line players with Best Picture buzz, so it feels like they also have a spot in the TOP 5. Then, I would say we have three crowd-pleasing/passion films: Licorice Pizza , CODA and King Richard , which managed to get some key precursor noms along the way (and even overperforming sometimes). So, there are 3 spots left to fill... Don't Look Up has done quite good with the guilds and audiences and Netflix is pushing it hard as an Oscar contender. The critics' darling Drive My Car is also a strong bet here, since it managed to grow in the awards season and it is a big contender in Best International Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay fields too. The last spot... well, the guilds would say Being the Ricardos or No Time to Die , but Netflix's tick, tick... BOOM! will pick some passion votes for sure - and it is a movie about being an artist which m
