It's an action packed movie with light and funny moments, but it also offers some dramatic beats and eye-opping action sequences. Tom Cruise is back in the leading role as Ethan and he brings his gang back with him, but it's Hayley Atwell who brings some spice and freshness to this movie - and it might well be the most welcome addition in the franchise's history. Next in line, there's Michelle Yeoh , the star of Everything Everywhere All at Once , who delivers her best performance since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). Yeoh is not the greatest actress in the world, but her character Evelyn is simply tailor-made for her acting talent, providing her some juicy scenes while it also pays homage to her career in wuxia films. To be honest, I had a lot of fun looking back to past decades and selecting the biggest movie stars... So... I did it again, this time for the 80's! Of course I wasn't even born at the time, but I recall some stories of my parents telling me how much they loved some movies that were released in their 20's. And, of course, because of social isolation due to COVID-19 outbreak, I've been able to watch a lot of movies these days! It's not always about delivering the best performance in order to be considered one of the greatest actresses of a decade - it also takes the ability to open a big production movie, to turn a small indie into a box-office hit or work with some of the most prestigious directors/auteurs these days.
