Martin Sheen (confirmed) and Sally Field (in talks) in untitled Spider-Man reboot; Johansson in "Zoo" and as an alien; "The Way Back" new trailer;
- According to Collider "the roles of Gwen Stacy and the main villain for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot have been given to Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans, respectively. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the next actor to join the increasingly respectable cast will be Martin Sheen who is set to play Uncle Ben." and it seems that Sally Field is in talks to play aunt May.
Marc Webb's Untitled Spider-Man reboot seems wonderfully casted, in my opinion! Remember that Andrew Garfield (Never Let Me Go; The Social Network) will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man and that Mr. Webb directed the highly acclaimed (500) Days of Love.
Btw, it seems that Mary Jane Watson character won't appear in this movie. It may seem strange not having such an important character, but I trust Webb and I think that the project is going in a fine way. - It seems that the cinema industry is back to the "Scarlett Fever". In fact, it seems that Scarlett Johansson is being attached for every movie with a young and pretty female lead. She was recently confirmed the actress choosen to play Matt Damon's character's wife (who suffers from cancer) in We Bought a Zoo, directed and written by Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire; Almost Famous). Some rumours said also that she will play a sedutive alien in a big screen adaptation of the novel Under the Skin, directed and co-written by Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast; Birth).
Now, let's see if she will get the role of Daisy in Baz Lhurman's adaptation of The Great Gratsby, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio (it seems the most interesting project Scarlett is attached for).
We Bought a Zoo and Under the Skin doesn't seem the kind of raved movies with a lot of quality potencial, but it will depend on the way the movies will be directed and the attached directors for both projects have already showed the world how good they are. It's Scarlett's return to small productions after a period of big-budgets. Let's hope that Zoo and Under the Skin will have some quality and a good performance from her. - Peter Weir's most recent project got a new trailer. The Way Back will have a limited release at the end of the year in order to be able to compete in this year's Oscar race. Weir was already nominated a lot by the Academy in Best Director category (for Witness, Dead Poets Society, Green Card, The Truman Show and Master and Commander). The Way Back stars Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), Colin Farrell (Minority Report), Ed Harris (The Hours) and Saoirse Ronan (Atonement), all actors with some of the Academy's love, so, let's wait to see if The Way Back is brilliant enough to give him another Oscar nod and fight for a win.
