TOP 5 Actresses of the Year: 2018

1. Emily Blunt 2018 was a killer year for Emily Blunt: A Quiet Place was a critical acclaimed box-office champion (it grossed $340.9M worldwide from a $20M budget) and she starred the highly antecipated Mary Poppins Returns , which got a warm critical reception and it also grossed a lot of money at the Christmas box-office ($309.8M worldwide, but it costed $130M to make). And what do both productions have in common? A pair of Emily Blunt's performances that also got rave reviews. In fact, I was expecting 2018 to be the year of the first Oscar nominated Blunt performance... but it didn't materialized. After a Golden Globe nomination ( Mary Poppins Returns ), 2 SAG Award nominations (Best Leading Actress for MPReturns and Best Supporting Actress for A Quiet Place ) and 2 Critics' Choice nods for Poppins, an Oscar nomination just seemed a natural thing to happen. But it didn't! No matter what, Emily Blunt is the actress of the year! And let's not forget she was a...

Academy Awards 2019 nominees list (complete)

After a couple of days as a grieving movie-addict who saw The Rider , Leave No Trace or Claire Foy , Ethan Hawke and Emily Blunt missing Oscar nominations, I guess it's time to present you the Academy Awards 2019 complete nominees list. I guess it will be a race between Roma and BlacKKKlansman , with A Star Is Born and Green Book as potential surprise winners....! I know A Star Is Born and Green Book missed Best Director category (but Argo also did and it won Best Picture), Roma missed Best Editing (also a key category for the Best Picture race) and people aren't that enthusiastic about BlacKKKlansman . Another note: both Green Book and Roma missed an important SAG Award nomination for Best Ensemble...! I don't know what to think about this Oscar race. I guess I need some time to think. Just have a look and cry for those who missed the deserved recognition: BEST PICTURE BlacKkKlansman A Star is Born Roma  Green Book Bohemian Rhapsody The Favourite...

Academy Awards 2019 nominees predictions: BEST PICTURE (2nd ROUND)

BEST PICTURE It doesn't seem the trickiest Best Picture race to predict, but this year benefits from a wide diversity of contenders - and while A Star Is Born , Roma , BlacKkKlansman , Green Book and The Favourite feel secure, I feel Black Panther and Bohemian Rhapsody 's traction is too based on the internet and audience power the AMPAS doesn't always pays respect. If Beale Street Could Talk , A Quiet Place , The Rider , First Man , Crazy Rich Asians , Leave No Trace or Vice : all these could sweep a seat in Best Picture nominees shortlist in a certain "expected way"., while Shoplifters just sounds too delicious to be included here. And then, I don't know what to do with Mary Poppins Returns , Eight Grade or First Reformed - movies that earned a lot of traction at some point of the awards season and now they're fading, but it doesn't mean Oscar voters forgot them... So, just check my Academy Awards 2019 Best Picture nominees predictio...
