"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" trailer - is this the big blockbuster awards contender of the year?

MCU put the internet on fire with the release of the emotionally ressonant trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , which takes place after the death of King T'Challa (and real-life death of the talented Chadwick Boseman , who played the title character of the franchise). Ryan Coogler is back with the franchise's director's duties and it seems his job reached titanic heights! Black Panther: Wakanda Forever 's trailer featured some of the most impressive visuals showed on a movie trailer this year, so far! Plus, it seems an ode to women power: Lupita Nyong'o , Angela Bassett , Letitia Wright and Danai Gurira - these are the actresses portraying the four women leading Wakanda after the king's death.  No matter what, it seems MCU is going right in the Black Panther realm: not only it gives POC actors a lot of room to shine, but its upcoming message of feminism and presentation of women as rulers, carers, warriors and symbols promises one of the most special...

TOP 5 Films of the Year, so far

1. Cha Cha Real Smooth Cooper Raiff brings something very special in Cha Cha Real Smooth , which he directed, wrote and starred. A tale about living in the limb when you just finished college and you must realise what you want in life. It makes you laugh, it makes you shed a tear and it makes you think about your own life. I feel it is a very special movie. Raiff is a charismatic lead and he delivers a very charming performance, but the best performance in Cha Cha Real Smooth comes from Dakota Johnson who plays the multi-layered Domino - she's a magnetic presence and she has some of the best lines as the enchanting and flawed young mother.  Go watch it and you'll understand why it won the Audience Prize - U.S. Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. RATING: 9 / 10 2. The Batman From the many adaptations around Batman character, I must say Matt Reeves ' take on Gotham's hero elevates above all the others. With plenty of space for character development, th...

Back for the upcoming 2023 awards season

Hey, guys! Now that we all recovered from CODA beating The Power of the Dog for the Academy Award for Best Picture (you know I loved CODA but it wasn't superior to Campion's latest by any means), it's time to start those Oscar charts, reviewing those movies and making those lists! Actually, I was so upset for CODA 's big win that I only noticed I never posted the 2022 Academy Awards winners list. My fault! I am such a shame as an Oscar blogger!!! I hope you missed Cinema and Popcorn, but my job doesn't allow me to make it my full time activity - so I am trying to focus on the most award-friendly part of the year!

Academy Awards 2022 winners predictions - all categories

The Oscar night! So, it's time for the winners predictions! We have to keep in mind: I believe when a movie gets nominated across the board, it means the movie is appreciated and people will go for it, so I am not expecting The Power of the Dog to just win Best Director and I believe the enthusiasm around Dune might earn it a win in some unexpected category (I say it will be in Best Costume Design). Word of mouth pays off and campaigns are landed by studios, so there's a lot of things going on for the Oscars that don't happen for other awards - so I am expecting surprises.  All members are allowed to vote for the winner across all categories, and the nominee with the most votes wins. However, there are a few categories – such as Best International Feature Film – where members have to have seen all of the nominees in order to vote. For Best Picture, picking the winner is trickier because of the preferential ballot, but that would make for an entire post of its own! So, le...

BAFTA Awards 2022 winners list - "Dune" is the most awarded film, but "The Power of the Dog" takes the top prizes

Dune: Part One was the most awarded film during this year's edition of the British Academy Film Awards, picking up 5 prizes - but the ceremony's big winner was Jane Campion 's The Power of the Dog , which took home Best Film and Best Director. There were no big surprises besides an unexpected CODA win in the Best Adapted Screenplay category over the favorites The Power of the Dog , Drive My Car and The Lost Daughter . On the "chaos making" side, the Best Editing winner - No Time to Die - which gives us no clue about which will be the Oscar pick since 007's latest installment isn't nominated in this category.  It was great to see Joanna Scanlan winning Best Actress for After Love over the favorites Lady Gaga ( House of Gucci ) and Alana Haim ( Licorice Pizza )... and since After Love didn't get a USA release... will it be released this year in the US, which makes Scanlan an early (and strong) contender for next season's Best Actress race? Maybe...

REVIEW: The Batman (2022)

Genre: Drama; Crime; Thriller; Sci-fi; Fantasy. Director: Matt Reeves Writers: Matt Reeves, Peter Craig (screenplay by) & Arthur Laurents (based on the character by) Starring: Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, John Turturro and Andy Serkis I waited 2 weeks in order to write this review, because my level of excitement around the latest Batman installment could overrate the movie (since I am a big fan of the character)... But 2 weeks have past and I am still marveled by a lot of elements of Matt Reeves' The Batman . No... it's not perfect since it can feel overlong right before the final act, but this movie nails the horror element of the Batman stories and embraces the character's inner darkness and sorrow. It is not an origins tale. It is not "a hero came to save us all" kind of movie. The Batman is an investigation crime movie that unites a masked vigilante and a cop in the pursue of a serial killer - it kind of r...

The Best of Their Generation: BORN IN THE 90's

Last month, I named the TOP 5 actors and actresses born in the 2000's - only 5, because most young actors younger than 22 had little opportunities to show-up.  Today, I'm naming the TOP 10 actors and actresses born in the 90's! I must admit I had a lot of fun selecting these "crop" of young talent - so young, yet so talented (and a big couple of them have achieved a lot already). For my consideration: the awards recognition, distinguished performances and successful movies, and box-office numbers. I still include distinguished TV works and performnaces on Broadway.  From Timothée Chalamet to Zendaya, have a look (listed alphabetically):
