"The Host" movie; Gordon-Levitt as Alberto Facolne in new Batman movie?; Marvel starts working on Captain America sequel;
- Susanna White (Nanny McPhee Returns) is the director attached to direct the movie adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's The Host, a sci-fi novel. The script was written by Andrew Niccol (The Truman Show) and there's no indications about the casting choices.
Here's the synopsis: "A species of altruistic parasites has peacefully assumed control of the minds and bodies of most humans, but feisty Melanie Stryder won’t surrender her mind to the alien soul called Wanderer. Overwhelmed by Melanie’s memories of fellow resistor Jared, Wanderer yields to her body’s longing and sets off into the desert to find him. Likely the first love triangle involving just two bodies, it’s unabashedly romantic, and the characters (human and alien) genuinely endearing." (adapted)
Remember that The Host's writer, Stephanie Meyer also wrote the Twilight saga and her books sold millions worldwide. The Host will have almost the same commercial sucess as the Twilight saga, but I hope that the quality will be better... - According to Collider, "Last week, we reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in talks to join The Dark Knight Rises. Comic Book Movie is now reporting the rumor that he’ll play Alberto Falcone, son of crime boss Carmine Falcone (played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins). Alberto would be returning to Gotham to take control of the criminal underworld after his father’s absence. In the comics, Alberto was also the “Holiday Killer” and committed murders on various holidays (it wasn’t the most creative name). It’s important to stress that this is a rumor and while CBM has reported solid stories in the past, the fact that they allow fan-submitted rumors means their true-to-false ratio tends to dip towards false."
Such an interesting report! Joseph Gordon-Levitt ((500) Days of Summer) is an amazing actor and I'm sure he would be great as Alberto Falcone. I hope that it is true and that he accepts the role.
Right now, The Dark Knight Rises has a shinning cast composed by Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy. Christopher Nolan will take the direction of the project and the screenplay was written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan.
The Dark Knight rises will release in 20th July 2012. - It seems that Marvel has commisioned a script for a Captain America sequel to Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, the same who wrote also Captain America: the First Avenger.
While there's no guarantees that Captain America: the First Avenger will be a commercial or a critical sucess, it seems that Marvel want to have everything ready to start working on a new sequel if the movie will be sucessful. I've serious doubts about going to spend money to see this Marvel movie, but I can't forget that the X-Men (I'm not talking about Wolverine: Origins, of couse), Iron Man and Spiderman movies had good quality, so I can't surely predict a critical failure for Captain America franchise.
Captain America: the First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Natalie Dormer, Stanley Tucci and Hayley Atwell, it's directed by Joe Johnston, while Joss Whedon, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay.
The movie will be released in 22nd July 2011 in USA.
