Academy Awards 2018 nominees predictions: BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS (1st ROUND)

Of course it is too soon to predict the Academy Award nominees since the "Oscar releases" will only come around September/October/November/Christmas, but sometimes early word on some cinematic works and some early releases give me enough factors to have under consideration.
This way and after presenting you my TOP 5 contenders, it's time to present the other contenders I have under serious consideration:
  • #6: Claire Foy for Breathe - If you watch the trailer, she seems to be the heart and soul of the movie and while I believe she has one of the best female roles of the year, I have some doubts about the movie itself. Maybe Breathe will be one of those cases of movies that are rescued by amazing acting... I believe it will be the case. I don't know in which category she will be placed/campaigned but she's one of the strongest contenders. Supportive wives tend to get the Supporting Actress label, so that's why I placed her here - or will she be this year's Felicity Jones?
  • #7: Mary J. Blidge for Mudbound - She's the true supporting actress in this year's Oscar race (so far!), because she really has a supporting part in Mudbound (a small part when compared to other definitions of "supporting" these days). Reviews were really kind to her and yes, she delivers! The movie is great and will make an impression during the awards season for sure, but this year's Best Supporting Actress race seems to be really strong!
  • #8: Betty Gabriel for Get Out - The AMPAS doesn't tend to go for genre horror pieces, but Get Out has been getting a lot of buzz and Betty Gabriel has been regarded as one of the movie's stand-outs! It's a special performance - a very peculiar one. I don't know if the Oscar voters will go for her, but if she gets a good campaign I can see her between the nominees shortlist easily.
  • #9: Nicole Kidman for The Killing of a Sacred Deer - She's on fire recently with last year's success of Lion (Oscar nominated performance), Big Little Lies TV mini-series and this year's The Beguiled... Will The Killing of a Sacred Deer give her 5th Oscar nomination of her career? She's one of the most celebrated actresses nowadays and the trailer gives us what promises to be a great movie - and early "unofficial" word on Kidman's performance is enthusiastic!
  • #10: Juno Temple for Wonder Wheel - I think Juno Temple is one of the most interesting young actresses these days and one of the most talented too, but awards organizations have been skeptical about recognizing her works. The AMPAS loves Woody Allen's female characters, so if Miss Temple has a showy part and manages to hold herself alongside the always great Kate Winslet, then maybe people open their eyes for this damn fine actress.

TOP 35 Actors and Actresses Under 35 Working Today - 2017

The almost annual TOP 35 Actors and Actresses Under 35 Working Today is out, with me considering the performers' performances of 2016 also. We have a few changes since last year's list, with Greta Gerwig toping the list thanks to her last 3 great performances in Mistress America , Maggie's Plan and the Oscar buzzy acting turn in 20th Century Women . Scarlett Johansson comes second with her latest distinguished performance being in 2014 ( Under the Skin ), but she managed to be at the spotligh this year thanks to her fine turns in critically acclaimed movies: Hail, Caesar! , Captain America: Civil War , The Jungle Book (voice) and Sing (voice). Emily Blunt adds another great performance to her resume in The Girl on the Train and she comes third, while Elle Fanning 's turning into one of the finest actresses and she's getting to play more adult and complex parts like The Neon Demon  and 20th Century Women 's (her two best performances since Super 8 ). TOP 10 Most Promising Movie Actors (under 30)

Today I discussed about how awful some "teen icons" are and then we talked about some exceptions. So, I decided to make a little list, a TOP 10, with the male actors that I think that will become music in an ocean of noise somewhere in the future (I did one list before, but it was a little bit pathetic and I didn't justify my choices). Let's start... 1 - Ryan Gosling He may not have a huge list of movies in his body of work, but the few times he makes something, all the time he almost carries the movie. In fact, Gosling is a proof that talent does exist and that you don't need excentrical characters to receive raves. He rose to fame after the big screen adaptation of The Notebook (2004) and then received lots of critical praise for his performances in movies like Half Nelson (that gave him an Oscar, a SAG Award and other major awards nominations), Lars and the Real Girl (that gave him a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and other major awards nominations) and Fractur...

ACTOR/ACTRESS OF THE MONTH: Michelle, ma belle

Michelle Pfeiffer Born: April 29, 1958 in Santa Ana, California, USA Oscar recognition:  1989 - Best Supporting Actress for Dangerous Liaisons (nom)  1990 - Best Leading Actress for The Fabulous Baker Boys (nom)  1993 - Best Leading Actress for Love Field (nom) One of the most beautiful women that ever walked on Earth, Michelle Pfeiffer was the A-list of the A-list in the late 80's and in the begining of the 90's, managing to get 6 Golden Globe nominations (winning one) 6 years in a round, for 6 amazing performances. She called attentions with her charm and voice in the movie musical flop Grease 2 , but she started gaining a "serious actress reputation" after appearing in Brian de Palma's Scarface . After Scarface , she became the biggest Hollywood movie star and delivered iconic performances as Susie Diamond in The Fabulous Baker Boys and as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Tim Burton's Batman Returns .  After some years away from stardo...
