Oprah Winfrey comeback to big-screen in an adaptation of a play; Spider-Man reboot began shooting; "The Wettest County in the World" keeps breathing;
- According to Collider, "Oprah Winfrey is now in talks to star in the film adaptation of Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined. The play ran off-Broadway to much critical acclaim, and focuses on Mama Nadi, a Madam at a brothel in war-torn Congo, who struggles to keep herself and the women working for her safe from the conflict between the government and rebel armies. Winfrey, who is producing through her Harpo Productions alongside HBO Films, would star as Nadi."
Remember that Oprah Winfrey is in the final season of her talk-show and that she's an Academy Award nominee actress for her amazing performance in Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple. In my opinion, I thought that a return to the cinema was just a question of time for her. I see a good role in this project for Oprah! - The Spider-Man reboot directed by Marc Webb began shooting this week. Remember that Marc Webb directed the critically acclaimed (500) Days of Summer and that the cast is composed by Andrew Garfield (The Social Network), Emma Stone (Easy A), Martin Sheen, Sally Field and others.
The movie is set to opening on 13th July (2012) in 3D. - The Wettest County in the World is not already dead! The director John Hillcoat (The Preposition; The Road) seems to want to take this project once again in spite of a previous "NO" from producers.
But this time, it seems that there are some changes in the cast: Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) keeps on his role, but some reports say that Ryan Gosling (Lars and the Real Girl) is out and that Tom Hardy (Inception) is set to take the Half Nelson's actor part. There are nothing about Amy Adams (Junebug), who got the female leading role in the past, but remember that Scarlett Johansson (Lost In Translation) was also interested in being part of the project. Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) and Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) also showed interest in the movie last year.
So, a movie directed by John Hillcoat and written by Nick Cave... interesting, really interesting... If I was a Hollywood actor I would love to see my name in the credits alongside their's.
