The European Film Awards have been presented since 1988 and 2019 was no exception. The European Film Academy has already announced this year's nominees and Roman Polanski's An Officer and a Spy, Pedro Almodovar's Pain and Glory, Marco Bellochio's The Traitor and Oscar nominated The Favourite all lead these awards with 4 nominations each! So, no clear favorite and everything can happen!
And while it isn't a major Oscar precursor, European Film Awards are cool because they keep their European identity and its nominees shortlist look nothing like an Oscar nominees shortlist (unlike the BAFTAs these days). Thank God!
