Kevin Costner is out of "Unchained" and Samuel L. Jackson is in; "We Bought a Zoo" movie trailer; "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" movie trailer;

  • According to Collider, "It appears that Kevin Costner won’t be starring in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained after all. The actor was in negotiations to join Tarantino’s controversial western, which takes a harsh look at slavery in the 19th century as told through Tarantino’s oh-so-politically-correct pen, but now Variety’s Justin Kroll reports that the actor had to pass due to scheduling conflicts. Costner was poised to play the villainous role of Ace Woody, a man who trains male slaves to fight for the public’s amusement. Costner recently filmed his role as Clark Kent’s adoptive Earth father in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and also has the History Channel miniseries The Hatfields and the McCoys and his directorial effort A Little War of Our Own on his plate so those projects may be to blame for the scheduling snafu" and the same source claims "Variety is happy to confirm Jackson will reunite with the director for Django Unchained, their fifth feature collaboration since Pulp Ficition debuted in 1994. Jackson will play Stephen, “a house slave and the right-hand man of a sadistic slavemaster.Like Jackson’s more recent participation in Kill Bill Vol. 2 and Inglorious Basterds, this may be a smaller role". Well, I'm not a fan of Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves), so hearding this news doesn't "hurt" me, but I'm glad Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) will be part of this project. Quentin Tarantino (Inglorious Basterds) is one of the most interesting directors working today and it is always good to see him working with good actors in a western! It sounds delicious...

    • Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous) upcoming We Bought a Zoo got its first movie trailer and it seems... sweet. While this is a completely different story from the one you can read in Benjamin Mee's memoir of the same name, We Bought a Zoo seems something really heartbreaking and feel-good, a kind of Crowe's classic Jerry Maguire, but with a better actor leading the movie and a zoo as the main movie set. Seems a good Christmas movie and looks (and SOUNDS) very Cameron Crowe! Maybe it will have a chance at the Oscar... We Bought a Zoo stars Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting), Scarlett Johansson (Lost In Translation), Thomas Haden Church (Sideways), Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) and Elle Fanning (Somewhere) and it will be released at 23rd December, 2011. Here's the movie trailer:

    • While I don't like Twilight Saga movies, there's no way to deny that the it is a worldwide phenomen, and Breaking Dawn: Part I just got a new movie trailer. It looks like all the others Twilight movies (maybe with better drama) and the trailer score sounds nice. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning, Anna Kendrick and Michael Sheen and it will be released 18th November, 2011. Here's the movie trailer:

    TOP 35 Actors and Actresses Under 35 Working Today - 2017

    The almost annual TOP 35 Actors and Actresses Under 35 Working Today is out, with me considering the performers' performances of 2016 also. We have a few changes since last year's list, with Greta Gerwig toping the list thanks to her last 3 great performances in Mistress America , Maggie's Plan and the Oscar buzzy acting turn in 20th Century Women . Scarlett Johansson comes second with her latest distinguished performance being in 2014 ( Under the Skin ), but she managed to be at the spotligh this year thanks to her fine turns in critically acclaimed movies: Hail, Caesar! , Captain America: Civil War , The Jungle Book (voice) and Sing (voice). Emily Blunt adds another great performance to her resume in The Girl on the Train and she comes third, while Elle Fanning 's turning into one of the finest actresses and she's getting to play more adult and complex parts like The Neon Demon  and 20th Century Women 's (her two best performances since Super 8 ). TOP 10 Most Promising Movie Actors (under 30)

    Today I discussed about how awful some "teen icons" are and then we talked about some exceptions. So, I decided to make a little list, a TOP 10, with the male actors that I think that will become music in an ocean of noise somewhere in the future (I did one list before, but it was a little bit pathetic and I didn't justify my choices). Let's start... 1 - Ryan Gosling He may not have a huge list of movies in his body of work, but the few times he makes something, all the time he almost carries the movie. In fact, Gosling is a proof that talent does exist and that you don't need excentrical characters to receive raves. He rose to fame after the big screen adaptation of The Notebook (2004) and then received lots of critical praise for his performances in movies like Half Nelson (that gave him an Oscar, a SAG Award and other major awards nominations), Lars and the Real Girl (that gave him a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and other major awards nominations) and Fractur...

    REVIEW: "The Secret Agent" / "O Agente Secreto"

    Genre: Drama; Comedy; Thriller; Crime Director: Kleber Mendonça Filho Writer: Kleber Mendonça Filho Starring: Wagner Moura, Alice Carvalho, Gabriel Leone, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Isabél Zuaa, Udo Kier and Tânia Maria I was fortunate for having Kleber Mendonça Filho presenting the film himself in my session, because he recalled some aspects of the movie he wanted the audience to be aware of: this movie represents an act of resistance and an ode to the importance of the press and cultural spaces (like a theatre) as powerful weapons against authoritarian regimes. So, The Secret Agent is actually some kind of parable about acts of resistance in the form of a political thriller - it's a slow burning film that is smartly balanced with truly funny comedic scenes and some moments of pure human joy that show the movie's true heart beneath its disguise - it's more of a satire to a corrupt system than a manhunt film. It's some kind of cinematic marvel in its own right. The story ...
