Keira Knightley or Lily Collins in "Rosaline"; Alejandro González Iñarritu's attached for the western "The Revenant"; "Coriolanus" kick-ass movie poster;;
- According to Collider, "Author Rebecca Serle has a book coming out in May called Before You Were Mine. The novel is a spin on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet by looking at the story from the perspective of Romeo’s prior love, Rosaline and then seeing her fall in love with Romeo’s cousin, Benvolio. Fox 2000 picked up the rights, Shawn Levy (Date Night) came on to produce, (500) Days of Summer screenwriters Scott Neustader and Michael H. Weber were brought on to adapt, and Michael Sucsy (HBO’s Grey Gardens) will direct the adaptation, now called Rosaline. Now that we’ve cleared that up, Vulture reports that Keira Knightley is Levy’s top choice to play Rosaline and that early discussions are happening with her reps (read: Shawn Levy has a list of actresses and there have been some phone calls). Vulture also hears that rising star Lily Collins (Priest) is also a contender for the lead". I don't know what are you thinking about, but I'm getting a bit tired of great classics' "recreations". First Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, then the Snow White movies (the two movies from two different studios) and now a new perspective from Romeo & Juliet? I'm not saying these projects are bad ones, I'm only saying that there's some freshness lacking in big studios... If Keira Knightley takes this role, I may consider paying a ticket for seeing the movie, it's all I have to say about Rosaline, which can have an interesting plot if you think twice.
- Alejandro González Iñarritu, the director of Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful, seems ready to comeback to work with The Revenant, a big-screen adaptation of the novel of the same name. The plot in a 19th century fur trapper who is mauled by a bear and left with injuries so sever it appears he will die instantly whose ship captain serves on tries to carry him back to civilization, but when the hash terrain makes that impossible he hires two men to stay behind and bury him after his inevitable death. It's another story around the themes of death and survival in extreme conditions, so I think Iñarritu will do a great job as always. The movie seems to be a western and it's ready to become the first Iñarritu's studio production, but this doesn't mean it will be a big budget movie (specially when Iñarritu's movies don't give him box-office success guarantees). A nice project to look for... I would love to see the "wonder man of the moment" playing the title role - I'm talking about Hunger's Michael Fassbender, of course...
- Coriolanus was already released in Berlin Film Festival, it got rave reviews, it is getting some Oscar buzz, it got a release date and a movie trailer and now it has a "kick-ass-poster"! I truly love the poster! Coriolanus is Ralph Fiennes' directorial debut in which he stars as the lead character. The movie also features Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave, Brian Cox and Jessica Chastain (this wonderful actress seems to be in every Oscar contender this year). Here's the outstanding movie poster:
